Jesus launched his public ministry as with his baptism by St. John the Baptist. Jesus was named the Beloved Son of God at his baptism. On the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord as the Church we celebrate and recommit to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, God’s Beloved Son. Initiated through our baptism, we too are the Beloved of God, commissioned to proclaim Good News with our lives.


National Vocations Awareness Week (January 9 – 14, 2012) begins with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. From the universal call to holiness at Baptism, each one of us receives a special vocational calling from God.
