High School

At the beginning of this third millennium, you too,
young people, are called to proclaim the message of the Gospel with the testimony of your lives. The Church needs your energies, your enthusiasm, your youthful ideals to ensure that the Gospel permeates the fabric of society and inspires a civilization of authentic justice and love without discrimination.

Bread of Life – Formerly Youth 2000:

After working for three years under the banner of Youth 2000, we have been very well trained and are really prepared to run this thing ourselves. “Bread of Life” is our new name. The Bread of Life is hosting Holy Hours (a Eucharist-centered prayer service), to help youth and young adults grow in their faith and spiritual lives through an encounter with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. These evenings will feature dynamic and inspiring music (like at the Youth 2000 Retreat), Scripture readings, reflections, and prayer. Pizza, conversation and fun will follow! We especially invite and welcome teens, college students and young adults who are looking for hope, healing, guidance and strength in their complex lives, but anyone is welcome to attend!

Holy Hours are held from 6 – 7 p.m., and are followed by pizza, discussion & fun activities until 8:30 pm on the following Sundays:

Sunday, October 12, 2008, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 9, 2008, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 14, 2008, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Holy Hours will be held in the 2nd floor chapel of St. Benedict School. St. Benedict is located at 2215 W. Irving Park Rd. in Chicago. Contact Fr. Steven Bauer at
773-588-6484 or FrSteve@StBenedict.com for more information.

Quigley Scholars Program:

The Quigley Scholars Program was designed and instituted by Francis Cardinal George in 2007 to provide support for Catholic young men in the Archdiocese of Chicago who have interest in the diocesan priesthood. Candidates for the scholarship must be baptized, practicing Roman Catholics, show an interest in the diocesan priesthood, be recommended by their home parish pastor, and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Scholars attend once-per-month formational meetings at St. Joseph College Seminary, and devote themselves to attendance at mass, prayer, parish service, and other activities vital to their discernment. Scholars also receive a scholarship to help offset tuition at a four-year Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
